Luxury hotel in pattern theft row
A new luxury hotel in Stockholm may have to replace 3,000 square metres of wall-to-wall carpets following accusations of intellectual property theft, Metro reports.
Carpet maker Kasthall has accused the newly opened Clarion Sign of stealing its patterns.
Hotel manager Tobias Ekman however said he was uncertain as to whether the hotel would become involved in a legal battle with Kasthall.
"We didn't order or pay for the carpet. We are renting the premises," he said.
But Jan Rosén, a civil law professor at Stockholm University, said that everybody, from the producer of the new carpet to the hotel's owners, could be held legally responsible for copyright infringement.
