New sales record for Ikea
Ikea increased its sales for the 2006-2007 fiscal year to a new record of 186 billion kronor ($29.2 billion).
The figures come from an examination by the newspaper Dagens Industri (DI) of the annual report of Ingka Holding, Ikea’s Netherlands-based parent company.
Many speculate that Ikea has generated profits totaling aroung 161 billion kronor since 2000.
Based on sales figures, DI calculated Ikea’s 20006-2007 profits rose to 30.2 billion kronor from 26.7 billion the year before.
“We never comment on our numbers before they’re made public,” said Ikea spokesperson Marianne Barner.
