Kidman swimsuit fetches nine cows at auction

Nicole Kidman's swimsuit fetched the equivalent of nine cows at auction in Eslöv on Saturday. The 16,200 kronor ($2,500) raised will be sent to poor families in India.

As reported on February 6th, a bathing suit forgotten at a Swedish pool by the Australian movie star was set to go under the hammer in order to raise funds for a Swedish charity.

The owner of the suit, Zlatko Nedanovski, had been hoping that the bathing suit would fetch enough to buy 5 cows at 1,800 kronor a head.

"What a fantastic and bewildering response for this auction," exclaimed Bernt Dahlgren for charity Erikshjälpen in Eslöv. Dahlgren added that "It feels great that nine families, who barely own anything, would now each receive their own pregnant cow."

The bathing suit had already raised 30,000 kronor for the Children's Cancer Fund and 5,500 for the Salvation army. The new owner, Bengt Olsen in Trollhättan, reports that he likes the cow idea so much that the bathing suit will at some point be auctioned again.

Nicole Kidman left the suit at a pool in Vänersborg while filming Lars von Trier's Dogville in Trollhättan in 2002.
