Sports digest: Hurdler Kallur raises the bar

With a few exceptions, Swedish successes were conspicuous by their absence at the weekend.
On the slopes of Val d'Isére and St. Moritz, Anja Pärson and Markus Larsson both failed to meet expectations.
Anna Lindberg missed out on the medal places at the European Diving Cup in Stockholm.
Henrik Stenson drifted to out to sixth place at the Dubai Desert Classic after starting the last day in second place just one stroke behind eventual winner Tiger Woods.
As if all that wasn't bad enough, Sweden got thumped 6-1 by Russia in the final of the bandy world championships in Moscow.
On a more positive note, Susanna Kallur was characteristically impressive in Stuttgart, coming within 0.03 seconds of the 60m hurdles world record.

Also, a couple of Swedes were among the goals around Europe at the weekend.

Football: Sebastian Larsson on target for Birmingham
Sunderland's new Swedish signing Rade Prica made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut in a victory over Birmingham last Monday.
In other football news, Christian Wilhelmsson is on his way to Spain on a loan move after struggling to establish himself as a regular at Bolton.

Later this week, there will be a chance for old rivalries to be renewed when Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Czech Republic face off at the annual LG Hockey Games at the Globe Arena in Stockholm. Tickets are still available for many of the games.
