A Swedish Air Force pilot has been suspended for flying a few metres above the heads of colleagues on the ground. The pilot flew his 30 tonne aircraft at 350 kilometres per hour past parachutists. His job is now on the line.

The pilot reportedly deliberately broke regulations that forbid flying so close to the ground.

The incident was captured on film and the pilot was immediately suspended when his commanding officer at the Air Force saw the film. According to the newspaper Aftonbladet the pilot is now at risk of losing his job.

"The pilot did not mean any harm and only wanted to say thanks for a successful exercise," Johan Svetoft of the Swedish Air Force told the newspaper.

Svetoft explained that the margin for error when conducting such a maneuver is non-existent.

"The smallest irregularity would have caused a catastrophe," he says.
