Shops boosted by increase in Christmas trading
Retail sales in December were up 4 percent on the same period the previous year, according to new figures from Statistics Sweden and the Swedish Retail Institute.
But despite the increase, December trading did not quite meet traders' high expectations. Shopkeepers will have to wait at least another year to break the magic 60 billion kronor barrier.
Turnover closed out at 59.8 billion kronor, rather than 62 billion kronor as predicted by the Swedish Retail Institute.
