Space Corporation takes over satellite
The Swedish Space Corporation has formally taken control of the Sirius 4 satellite, which will provide radio and broadband telecom services for northern, eastern and central Europe and South Africa.
The SSC takes over the satellite from manufacturer Lockheed Martin, which controlled Sirius 4 since it was launched on November 17th.
The new satellite is the fourteenth to be controlled by the state-owned SSC. The control centre is located at the company's Esrange complex near Kiruna, in the far north of Sweden.
The SSC said on Tuesday that Sirius 4 was the biggest space project that Sweden has undertaken.
