Police were called to the house in Dalby shortly after 1.30am. They found the dead man lying outside the house. The attacker was found with serious injuries inside the house. A pistol was recovered at the scene.

"There are many indications that the man inside the building also shot himself," said Lars Mahler at Skåne Police.

The suspected gunman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to some reports he had been shot in the head.

The shooting is believed to have followed an argument. A child had been present in the house when the row started.

"Three men and a woman came to the house and some kind of row started," said Mahler.

Those involved in the shooting drama are all believed to be in their late twenties and early thirties. They are thought to have been acquainted prior to the shooting.

Several witnesses were questioned by police overnight. The scene was cordoned off for a forensic examination.
