'Socialite Swede' pleads guilty

A 23-year-old Swedish woman has pleaded guilty in Australia to soliciting the murder of a prosecution witness due to testify against her ex-boyfriend in a drugs trial, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Charlotte Lindström was arrested in Sydney in one of a string of raids by anti-gang police in New South Wales and Victoria in May of this year.

Lindström, a waitress and model, was named in documents from Sydney Central Local Court as a 'principal' in the plan to murder two men. She allegedly offered an undercover police officer AU$200,000 (1.175m kronor, $175,000) to solicit the murders.

But the Swede will only be sentenced on one charge as the Director of Public Prosecutions agreed to a plea bargain.

Her former boyfriend, Steven Spaliviero, 44, has been in custody since late last year, charged with manufacturing drugs worth millions of Australian dollars.

The Swede has lived in Australia for over two years. Described as a 'Sydney socialite' by Australian media, she has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to murder and two counts of soliciting to murder. She was also charged with the possession of 0.3 grams of cocaine.

Lindström is to appear in front of the Supreme Court for arraignment on Friday.
