The 57-year-old was stopped by police as he drove his car to begin his day's work as a bus driver on the public transport system in the western Swedish town, Borås Tidning reports.

Police eventually caught up with the man after he was spotted speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving with two wheels on the sidewalk.

When the bus driver was pulled over, police discovered a bag containing 15 grams of opium in one of his trouser pockets.

A list of names was also found in the car, which police believe may be a list of customers to whom the driver intended selling drugs.

Police conducting a search of the man's home also found weighing scales and a number of syringes.

The driver was immediately suspended from work without pay and had his driving licence revoked.
