Sweden's trade surplus grows

Sweden's trade surplus expanded 15.1 percent in October to 11.4 billion kronor ($1.23 billion), the statistics office said Monday.

Exports rose 7.0 percent compared with a year earlier to 105.9 billion kronor while imports were up 6.1 percent at 94.5 billion kronor.

Swedish trade with countries outside the 27-nation European Union showed a surplus of 16.3 billion kronor after 13.4 billion in October 2006.

With EU countries, Sweden had a trade deficit of 4.9 billion kronor against 3.5 billion kronor a year earlier.
