No planes have been able to take off or land since the radar failed at 6.40am on Tuesday. The airport's press office says repair work on the radar is underway, but at 8.40am it was unclear when planes would start moving again.

Air traffic at Arlanda is usually busiest between 6am and 9am.

Tuesday's radar failure follows similar problems at the airport in May.
