Voters have confidence in Reinfeldt

Voters have greater confidence in Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt than any of the other party leaders, according to a new poll. The Social Democrats' Mona Sahlin is in second place.

The Synovate Temo poll provides a boost to new Liberal Party leader Jan Björklund, whose figures beat those of his predecessor Lars Leijonborg.

The poll, commissioned by Dagens Nyheter, asked 1,051 people how great their confidence was in the leaders of the seven parties represented in parliament.

Confidence in most of the leaders had fallen since Synovate Temo's last poll on the issue in March. Reinfeldt's figure fell from 48 to 44 percent.

The exception is Mona Sahlin, whose figure remains unchanged. Some 37 percent of those asked said they had great confidence or very great confidence in her. She now beats Centre Party leader Maud Olofsson, whose figure fell from 39 to 34 percent.

Jan Björklund came in fourth in the survey, with 28 percent. Lars Leijonborg was on 23 percent when the last survey was taken.

Christian Democrat leader Göran Hägglund's figure was down from 30 to 27 percent. Maria Wetterstrand, one of the Green Party's two spokespeople, saw her approval rating fall from 31 to 25 percent. Some 18 percent approved of Left Party leader Lars Ohly, compared to 20 percent in the last poll. The Green Party's other spokesman, Peter Eriksson, is propping up the table, with his figure down from 21 percent to 17 percent.
