A cat has been reunited with its owners after surviving cars, planes and rat poison for three weeks at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The feline, Kattitz, escaped from his cage during transit.

The cat was rescued after a woman in the control tower noticed the skinny, confused animal walking round the airport. The woman and her colleagues used cat food to catch Kattitz, according to Eskilstuna-Kuriren newspaper.

The phone number on the cat's collar was partially worn down, but after several attempts staff at the airport managed to reach his owners - a young family in Skåne, southern Sweden. The family had sent Kattitz by plane from Umeå, in the north of the country, but to its surprise received an empty cage at Malmö Airport.

Kattitz was eventually sent home by plane from Stockholm to Malmö - this time with the door to his carrying cage firmly sealed.
