Swedish exports to remain stable

In its latest market report the Swedish Trade Council sees Swedish exports increasing in volume by 6 percent for the remainder of 2007. The rate of growth is however expected to drop to 5 percent next year.

The export of goods and services from Sweden rose by 6.2 percent for the fist half of this year, which was in line with the council's prognosis.

"We predict growth to be solid, though calmer than before, which is positive," said council economist Mauro Gozzo.

Although much of the global economy witnessed considerable growth for the first half of 2007, Grozzo believes that recent instability on the global financial markets could result in negative effects. According to the council, an economic turndown in the period 2007-2009 cannot be ruled out.
