Cash deliveries suspended after raid

One of Sweden's leading secure cash delivery companies has suspended deliveries of foreign currency to and from Swedish airports, saying it will not resume services until police can guarantee security. The suspension follows a robbery of a cash delivery vehicle at Stockholm Arlanda Airport of Friday.

G4S Cash Services said it would not carry out deliveries "unless the police can offer escorts or unless the state can provide some other kind of adequate protection."

"We cannot accept that our employees or other people are subjected to gun threats and have their lives put in danger during robberies in which vehicles are blown up and set on fire. The authorities must take these crimes against society much more seriously," the company's CEO and head of security said in a joint statement.

A G4S secure cash delivery vehicle was robbed at gunpoint on Friday at Arlanda Aiport. The robbers detonated an explosive charge in the vehicle and fired shots. The security guards carrying out the delivery were not physically injured.
