Ericsson wins Deutsche Telekom order to run microwave network

Swedish telecom equipment giant Ericsson said Thursday it had won a six-year contract to operate and maintain Deutsche Telekom's microwave network in Germany.

Ericsson spokeswoman Josephine Edwall told Swedish news agency TT that the the contract was worth an average of about 800 million kronor per year, or up to 4.8 billion kronor (698 million dollars, 511 million euros) over six years.

As part of the transaction, some 200 employees will be transferred from Deutsche Telekom's T-Com division to Ericsson. T-Com will also transfer its microwave assets and related operation activities to Ericsson, the company said in a statement.
