Swedish drivers choose topless models
Climate change can hardly be the reason, with a wetter Swedish summer hard to remember. But regardless of the rainfall, Swedes are buying convertible cars like never before.
Sales figures for cabriolets have doubled in just four years, reported Göteborgs-Posten, and the most probable reason is the strong Swedish economy.
In the first half of 2003 some 1,677 convertible cars were sold in Sweden. In the same period this year the number has risen to 3,232.
"Sweden PLC is doing well. Many in their fifties are realising their dreams of owning a cabriolet," said Bertil Moldén, managing director of car industry association Bil Sweden .
