Sentences upheld in Borås torture case

Five people found guilty involvement in the death of a 32-year-old man in Borås in January have had their sentences upheld.
Negotiations between the public prosecutor, four of the detainees and the family of the victim resulted in the withdrawal of all appeals lodged by the various parties.
The victim was found lying in a park in Borås early one morning in January. Before being taken to the park the 32-year-old has been assaulted and subjected to a treatment bearing many of the hallmarks of torture.
Three men were sentenced by Borås District Court to between five and eleven years in prison for assault and manslaughter. A further man and woman present at the time of the assault were found guilty of being accessories to assault and manslaughter.
