Ljungberg joins West Ham United
Sweden's national team captain Fredrik Ljungberg has crossed London to join West Ham United from Arsenal.
The 30-year-old midfielder will become the world's highest-earning Swedish player, with a reported salary of up to 1.4 million kronor per week.
Ljungberg scored 72 goals in 325 games for Arsenal since he joined the club from Halmstad in 1998.
Hammarby squander Uefa Cup chances
Hammarby wasted numerous chances to gain the advantage over Holland's Utrecht in their bid for a Uefa cup place on Sunday afternoon. Despite having the better opportunities in the match, the Stockholm side could only manage a 0-0 draw.
"I'm satisfied with the performance but the result was only OK," said Hammarby manager Tony Gustavsson after the game.
The return leg of the Intertoto Cup game will take place on Sunday July 29th.
GOLF
Sweden's golfers failed to make an impact at the British Open last week, with the highest-ranked player, Pelle Edberg, finishing in 12th spot, five shots behind the eventual winner Padraig Harrington.
Niclas Fasth finished way down in 35th place, 11 shots behind the winner, while Carl Pettersson was a further ten places behind him.
Henrik Stenson, meanwhile, made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Friday. Stenson, who was Europe's top golfer until the Open, was fined 7,000 kronor (£500) for smashing his club into a tee marker on the eighth hole.
