Man 'scalped wife' in front of neighbours
A man has been arrested in northern Sweden accused of scalping his wife. The man, 46, attacked his Norwegian wife in Skellefteå, 770 kilometres north of Stockholm.
The man grabbed his wife in front of a number of witnesses and dragged her into their summer cottage. According to prosecutors the man pulled her hair so hard that a piece of skin sized ten square centimetres came away from her head, causing blood to pour from the woman's scalp.
Plastic surgeons at Umeå University Hospital were unable to repair the damage. The woman has now been taken to hospital in her home town of Tromsö, where she is expected to undergo a skin graft.
