June surge for Swedish booze sales

Systembolaget's sales continued to increase in June. Compared to the same month last year, sales at Sweden's state-owned alcohol retailer climbed 7.4 percent when measured in alcohol volume, according to new statistics from the organisation.
"For a large part of June it was sunny and warm which influenced sales, as did the tax refund paid out that month. Similarly, early in the year there was an increase in households' disposable income which, from experience, leads to increased alcohol sales," said Systembolaget's managing director Anitra Steen in a press statement.
The rise was greatest in Dalarna (12.8 percent), Värmland (10.2 percent) and Jämtland (10.1 percent). In the first six months of the year, sales increased by 5.6 percent, Systembolaget .
