Paedophiles scour net for holiday snaps

Swedish police are advising families with young children not to make their holiday photos available on the internet.

Cecilia Wallin Carlsson, a police expert on crimes relating to child pornography, warns that many paedophiles actively seek out pictures of children playing on the beach.

"There have been a lot of holiday photos among the confiscated pictures we have looked at," she told Dagens Nyheter.

Parents should be aware that there is a major risk of their pictures on falling into the wrong hands if they place them on the internet, according to Jenny Sonesson from the Swedish branch of ECPAT, an organization working to actively combat the spread child pornography.

"There is no way that anybody would go down to the subway to display their photo albums in public," she said by way of analogy.
