The aircraft engine and the truck were badly damaged in the incident, which happened at 4am on Monday morning, but nobody was injured. The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority is to expected to launch an investigation, according to Dagens Nyheter.

The accident happened after the truck had helped the plane taxi to the runway.

Officials say that they are working on the theory that a misunderstanding caused the incident. The pilot was said to have been given the all-clear by the control tower, but had not checked with ground crew.

The plane was heading to Hong Kong when the accident happened, but it will now have to wait in Stockholm until the engine has been fixed.

The Local has tried to contact airport authorities for more information.
