Germany ferries cancelled due to strike

Ferries between Germany and southern Sweden have been cancelled on Friday due to strikes by German dockworkers. The strike affects TT-Line boats between the German port of Travemünde and Trelleborg in southern Sweden.

A ferry which should have left Travemünde at 10am on Friday was at lunchtime still in its dock. None of TT-Line's three sailings on Friday were expected to proceed, Sydsvenskan reports.

Unions called the strike at 7am on Friday in protest at plans by Lübeck Council to privatize the company that owns Travemünde Port. The strike is expected to continue until Saturday at 6am, according to TT-Line.

Nordö-Link's freight ferries between Travemünde and Malmö, which also carry some passengers, have also been cancelled.
