Left Party loses out in new poll

The Left Party has a lot of work to do before the next election, according to a new poll.

Pollster Demoskop's June survey puts the party at just 3.6 percent, below the 4 percent necessary for a place in parliament. It is the party's lowest Demoskop poll result for thirteen years and represents a drop of 1.5 percentage point since the previous survey.

The largest opposition party, the Social Democrats, also witnessed a downward trend, falling 3.9 percentage points to 37.7 percent.

There was better news for the Greens, which jumped from 6.8 to 8.2 percent in the poll carried out on behalf of Expressen.

The opposition parties continue to dominate but have now seen their lead whittled down from 11.4 to 2.3 percentage points.

Of the four Alliance parties, the Liberals have most reason to celebrate. Support for the party has risen from a precarious 4.2 to a respectable 7.2 percent.

The Moderates (30.1) and Christian Democrats (3.8) each gained 0.9 percentage points, while the Centre Party (6.1) rose by 0.3.

Demoskop interviewed 1,011 people for the survey. Of all the results, only the Liberal Party's increase is within the margin of error.
