A website which defends paedophilia is being hosted by a Swedish web hosting company. The site also plans to make space available for individual paedophiles' personal websites.

Hosting company PRQ has been hosting the site for a few days, since a Danish hosting company closed it down, according to Dagens Nyheter.

PRQ's owners told the paper that they do not share the site's values, but defended the decision to host the pages, citing the principle of freedom of speech.

The hosting company is co-owned and operated by Fredrik Neij and Gottfried Svartholm Warg, two of the founders of internationally-notorious file sharing site The Pirate Bay.

Speaking to Dagens Nyheter, Svartholm Warg said he decided to host the site despite disagreeing strongly with the content.

"I have read the material and personally I don't agree. They claim among other things that children can have voluntary love affairs with adults, and that is completely ridiculous. But I believe more in an open debate than in burying our heads in the sand. They have the right to say this," he said.

The site's owners also use freedom of speech arguments to defend their content.

"When it comes to fear of paedophiles most things are set to one side - logic being the first victim, then freedom of speech and last but not least the law," the owners wrote in a statement published on their site.
