Bildt tops minister shares league
Foreign minister Carl Bildt has more wealth tied up in shares and funds than any other Swedish minister, according to research carried out by newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.
His portfolio is valued at 23.5 million kronor (3.4 million dollars), more than three times that of the second largest ministerial shareholding.
That is owned by agriculture minister Eskil Erlandsson , whose portfolio is worth 6.8 million kronor.
In third place is culture minister Lena Adelsohn Lilijeroth with a relatively paltry 1.1 million kronor is stocks and shares.
Carl Bildt has now offloaded his much-discussed options in Vostok Nafta and his shares in Lundin Petroleum . Instead, his independent stockbroker has placed the money in high return funds and the Russian property market.
Four ministers in the Swedish government - including minister for enterprise Maud Olofsson - have no savings at all in the form of stocks.
