Nearly 20 percent of 1,000 people interviewed said they were "very worried", according to the poll carried out by Sifo for Swedish Radio.

More women than men expressed concern over climate. Men between 15 and 29 were less worried; only four out of ten in this group said they were quite worried or very worried, with the remainder saying they were not particularly worried.

Of the 200 who answered questions about what they do to combat climate change, half had turned down the heating in their homes. Nearly the same proportion said they sort their trash for the same reason.

The interviews were carried out by phone between 26th April and 3rd May.
