A two-hour car chase in southern Sweden led to the arrest on Tuesday evening of a 25-year-old man suspected of attempted murder.

Police have sought the man following his involvement in a knife attack in the Höör area two weeks ago. Following a tip-off, police were waiting to arrest the suspect when he arrived at an address in the town of Höör on Tuesday.

Realizing that a trap had been set, however, the 25-year-old and his two passengers fled the scene.

Police gave chase as the suspect drove north towards Kristianstad. A first row of nails laid out on the road near Vånga caused some damage to the vehicle.

Despite punctured tyres, however, he refused to turn himself in. But a second row of nails in the town of Vånga finally brought the chase to an end.

"The car probably just took too much punishment," police spokesman Micke Persson told Sydsvenska Dagbladet.

Following the two-hour chase, he is now also suspected of driving under the influence of drugs. His two passengers, a couple, were also arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug offences but were later released after questioning.
