Evander Holyfield is coming to Karlstad for a boxing event to be held in the western town this September. Or maybe he isn't.
The organizers - Pugnus Boxing Promotion - have said that the former heavyweight world champion will be coming to Sweden unless he is involved in a title fight in September or October.
This news was understandably greeted with excitement in a country that has long been shielded from professional boxing.
But Donald Tremblay, a spokesman for Holyfield, has speculated that Pugnus Boxing Promotion is simply using the superstar's name to generate publicity. According to Tremblay, an exhibition fight in Karlstad is out of the question.
But the organizers are sticking to their story and it remains to be seen whether Holyfield will join Riddick Bowe and Bruce Seldon for the Night of the Champions event.
Ice hockey
On Sunday, 10,000 of Örnsköldsvik's 25,000 inhabitants crammed into the town square to celebrate their heroes after local club Modo won the Swedish Ice Hockey championship for the first time since 1979.
Having seen their club lose three finals since the victory almost three decades ago, Saturday's win offered long-awaited relief for the jubilant fans in red, white and black.
Having fallen 2-1 behind to Linköping in the best of seven series, Modo stepped up a gear to win three matches in succession and take the title.
Football
There were just two matches played in Allsvenskan at the weekend.
Hammarby secured a 3-0 win at home to Trelleborg, having drawn their first game away to Gais earlier in the week.
Brommapojkarna scored with the last kick of the game to earn themselves a point away to Kalmar. The game finished 2-2.
This week's big game is Wednesday's clash between two traditional giants of Swedish football, IFK Gothenburg and AIK from Stockholm.
