Sweden eased to a 4-1 win over Argentina in the Davis Cup quarter final held in Gothenburg at the weekend.

The match was all over as a contest on Saturday afternoon after the Swedes had taken an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Sweden will face the USA in the semi final.

Football

The Swedish football season kicked of at Easter weekend and threw up a few early surprises.

In the season's first Stockholm derby, newcomers Brommapojkarna took a second minute lead against Djurgården which they never relinquished. The minnows from the north of the city, 500/1 outsiders to take the title, couldn't have got their campaign off to a better start.

Following in the footsteps of Djurgården, AIK - another of the capital's major clubs - lost at home to Kalmar.

Halmstad notched up a 2-1 victory at home to Helsingborg, dealing an early blow to Henrik Larsson's chances of winning titles with two different clubs in the same year.

The weekend's other games all ended in stalemate.

AIK - Kalmar 0 - 1

Gefle - Örebro 0 - 0

Halmstad - Helsingborg 2 - 1

Elfsborg - Malmö 1 - 1

Brommapojkarna - Djurgården 1 - 0

Trelleborg - IFK Göteborg 1 - 1

Ice Hockey

Linköping secured a late win over Modo in the third game of their best-of seven Swedish hockey final.

The teams now travel to Modo's home arena in Örnsköldsvik for two games on Tuesday and Thursday that could decide the outcome of this year's Elitserien.

Golf

After his victory at the World Match Play Championships in Arizona in February, Henrik Stenson was expected to be among the contenders at the Masters in Augusta. But it wasn't to be.

Stenson was however the best placed Swede at the 2007 Masters, finishing tied for 17th place.
