Knife attack leaves one dead and three wounded
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his fifties was stabbed to death in the eastern village of Finsta on Sunday evening. Three other people were also stabbed, one of whom is reported to be in a serious condition.
Shortly after 7pm, police received notification that at least three people, one woman and two men, had been stabbed.
"It was one of the people who had been knifed that called us," said police spokesman Mats Nylén.
After an intensive search involving dogs and a helicopter, police arrested the suspect in a wooded area near the crime scene at 8.30pm.
"He was under the influence of drugs," said police spokesman Henrik Billstam.
One hour after the arrest police received information suggesting that there may have been more people injured in the attack.
"When we checked a nearby building we found a man dead," said Mats Nylén.
According to police, it has not yet been established whether the suspect knew the dead man or the three other victims, all of whom are in their twenties.
Since the suspect was under the influence of narcotics, police have not yet been able to question him about the attacks.
