17-year-old Swede missing in Syria
A 17-year-old girl from Örnsköldsvik has disappeared while on holiday in Syria . The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are unclear, but her relatives suspect that she has been kidnapped, reports Expressen.
The case will now be handed over to the polce. Meanwhile, the Swedish embassy in Damascus and Sweden's Ministry for Foreign Affairs are looking into the matter, according to the ministry's Petra Hansson:
"We don't know where she is. We don't know what has happened. But we are trying to find out," she said.
According Expressen, Syrian police arrested two people suspected of involvement in the girl's disappearance two weeks ago. An anonymous man who contacted the girl's family in Sweden told the father that the two men were involved.
The unidentified man also said that the girl was being held by four men and a woman.
According to the police report, the girl disappeared on March 8th.
