Sabuni pushes for parental insurance reform

Equality Minister Nyamko Sabuni favours the removal of the current upper limit on parental insurance .
She argues that parents who stay at home with their children should be entitled to 80 percent of their previous wages, regardless of the amount.
In an interview with Svenska Dagbladet, the minister praised the government's planned equality bonus. But she also felt that further measures were necessary.
"We should ensure that the financial situation is not part of the reason that men don't stay at home," she said, adding that "people on high income are trend-setters".
Last summer the ceiling was raised from 24,800 kronor to 33,000 kronor per month.
