Meeting with Jordanian Prince Ali in Amman, she said she hoped that peace will stand a chance in the troubled region, after Arabs said they are committed to full peace and normalization of relations with Israel, if it withdraws out of Palestinian lands it occupied in 1967.

The princess, who is on a Swedish foreign ministry training scheme, was accompanied by 19 diplomats who ‘expressed concern’ over human rights violations in the region, and said Sweden will continue to support efforts to ‘democratize and build peace’ in the Middle East.

According to a Jordanian news agency, Prince Ali talked about the Jordanian experience being at peace with Israel since 1994, and ‘briefed the Swedish princess about the new diplomatic offensive’.

The five-year-old offer, was revived on Wednesday as Arab leaders met in Saudi Arabia, and unanimously voted to give Israel a chance to ‘live in a sea of peace’. Israel said it will study the plan, but was warned by Arab leaders that should the state refuse an offer, it will put its future in ‘the hands of warlords’.

The crown princess’ visit to the region comes one week after Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt, visited Israel and the Palestinian Authorities, to discuss possibilities to aid a newly formed coalition Palestinian government and to support a peace deal with Israel.

Bildt’s visit came at a time when several European Foreign Ministers increased their communications with the leaders of the region, promising to end a freeze financial aid to Palestinians, and to back the Arab’s plan for peace.
