Drunk driver claimed to be his own brother

Following his arrest for driving under the influence, a 30-year-old man from the village of Järlåsa in eastern Sweden made a vain attempt to escape justice by masquerading as his brother.

Having been tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, the man provided police with both his brother's name and personal identification number, Upsala Nya Tidning reports.

He was later taken in for questioning where he again attempted to pass himself off as his unsuspecting sibling.

On the night of February 2nd last year, the man was pulled over by police on a road near the town of Uppsala . A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent.

The defendant was also driving without the required documentation, having had his licence revoked for a previous conviction.

On Thursday he was sentenced by the Court of Appeal to four months in prison for false identification, driving under the influence and driving without a licence.
