Swedbank's internet banking service crashes - twice
Swedbank's internet banking service crashed on Wednesday evening for the second time in as many days. Unusually high numbers of customers trying to pay their bills at the end of the month is thought to have been the cause of the disruptions.
On Tuesday evening the bank announced that its technicians were planning to restart the company's servers.
While they succeeding in getting the service back online, at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday the site was down for two further hours.
Difficiculties with the internet banking service also had knock-on effects for Swedbank's telephone service.
"There are waiting times, as people who usually pay on the internet are using this service instead," said spokeswoman Anna Hammarskiöld.
Swedbank announced in a statement that it would ensure its customers did not have to pay for any extra charges resulting from the disruption.
