Christer van der Kwast, Sweden's chief prosecutor, told the paper he was conducting preliminary work on Saab's involvement in a deal to supply military aircraft to the Czech army.

A decision on whether to launch a full enquiry will be made shortly, said the report.

Czech police have also revealed that they have begun probing allegations involving BAE in response to a request by the UK's Serious Fraud Office, which is investigating the group's dealings in six countries.
