The victim, 47, was subjected to a brutal attack in the playground of Fittja School, in southern Stockholm, on the evening of 16th September last year.

A gang of youngsters kicked and hit the man, who later died of his injuries in hospital.

The 16-year-old was among the gang members, and was convicted of manslaughter by Huddinge district court. He was sentenced to six months in a secure youth detention centre and ordered to pay 127,000 kronor in damages to the victim's family.

A 17-year-old friend of the boy was sentenced to secure youth detention for assault. Another two youngsters were acquitted.
