Jail for spiking ex-girlfriend's food
A 25-year-old man from Uppsala has been sentenced to one year in prison for spiking his ex-girlfriend's lunch-box with sleeping drugs and pain relief medicine.
The woman became dizzy and nauseous and lost all feeling in her body when she ate her lunch the following day, Upsala Nya Tidning reports.
Uppsala District Court did not consider the man's version of events credible. Instead the court judged that there was sufficient cause to believe that he had poisoned his former partner's food.
On top of the jail sentence the man has also been ordered to pay his former girlfriend 19,000 kronor in compensation.
