The bears at a wildlife park on the Baltic island of Öland may finally be ready for their long winter's nap.

One of the female black bears has now gone into hibernation, while a male is starting to show signs of tiredness, according to TV4.

The bears usually start hibernating in October but the mild winter has left them in a state of some confusion.

Staff at the park are most worried about the pregnant females. Zoologists fear that hormonal disturbances may hinder the development of the foetuses.
