A Swedish woman was injured on Friday when an avalanche struck in the Austrian Alps.

According to police, the woman and a group of other Swedes caused the avalanche when they strayed from the area cleared for skiing at the Jochberg resort near Kitzb├╝hel.

The woman lay buried under the snow for two minutes before others in the group were able to pull her out.

She was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital where doctors diagnosed her with hypothermia and a knee injury.

"I've been very lucky," the woman told news agency TT.

No other members of the group were injured in the avalanche.
