Madonna to design clothes range for H and M
After topping the charts as a pop star and children's author, US style icon Madonna will now try her hand in the fashion world, designing a collection for Swedish low-cost retailer H and M, the company announced on Thursday.
The collection, entitled "M by Madonna", will consist of wardrobe staples and accessories and will be available in all stores carrying women's wear as of March 2007, H and M said.
"H and M and their head of design Margareta van den Bosch have teamed up with Madonna to create a line of clothing and accessories," the company said in a statement.
The clothes will "reflect Madonna's timeless, unique and always glamorous style."
Madonna said: "I've made no secret of my love of fashion over the years.
Working with Margareta and H and M was an exciting and new creative challenge for me."
Established in 1947, H and M has about 1,300 stores in 24 countries.
