Climbers still missing in Nepal
Two Swedish climbers who went missing in an avalanche in the Himalayas on Wednesday had still not been found on Thursday morning.
Swedish foreign ministry officials said that no reports had been received indicating that the men had been located. The two Swedes have been named as Daniel Carlsson, 27, and Mikael Forsberg, 41.
They were at a camp at 6,400 metres (20,992 feet) on Nepals Mount Ama Dablam when the avalanche hit at around midnight on Monday. Also missing is their British companion Duncan Williams, 32, and three Nepali guides.
"The people have been swept away by the avalanche, but we can't yet confirm any deaths," said Lok Bhadur Khatri, a tourism ministry official, to news agency AFP.
Four French nationals also went missing in Nepal earlier this week.
Nepal hosts thousands of trekkers and mountaineers annually. The country has eight of the world's 14 peaks over 8,000 metres, including the world's highest, Mount Everest, at 8,848 metres (29,021 feet).
