Bildt will sell Russian options

Sweden's foreign minister Carl Bildt is to sell his options in Vostok Nafta, a holding company that owns one percent of Russian state-controlled energy company Gazprom, as soon as he is able.

Bildt also said he has sold all his shares in Vostok Nafta in the past few weeks. He still has 15,000 options, worth 5 million kronor.

"Those options that, through a decision of the company's annual general meeting were distributed to the members of the board, cannot be sold or divested of early."

"My intention, however, is to sell them as soon as there is a possibility. My judgment is that such a sale will be able to take place well before the government has to consider any matter that could give rise to accusations of conflict of interest."

Bildt's comments came after the office of prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt released details of all ministers' shareholdings. The report was compiled by Christina Weihe, head of legal affairs in Reinfeldt's office.
