Ryanair launches new London and Dublin lines

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is to launch two new lines from Västerås airport, to the west of Stockholm, following the new government's decision not to introduce a planned green tax on plane tickets.

The airline will run daily services from Västerås to Dublin and London Stansted, although it will proceed with its plan to axe the route to London Luton.

The plan to axe the line to Luton was to have deprived Västerås of 90 percent of its traffic. Ryanair also cut flights from a number of other Swedish airports. The arrival of the new government means that the company's reason to slash flights has disappeared.

Flights to Dublin will start flights to Dublin in February, and to Stansted in March. The company expects to carry around 200,000 passengers a year on the new lines.
