"I am honoured to announce the creation of the Anna Lindh professorship in Global Leadership and Public Policy, the first endowed faculty position of my deanship," said Kennedy School of Government Dean David Ellwood, reported the Harvard Gazette.

"The Anna Lindh Professorship will not only memorialize her contributions to European politics, international diplomacy, and global human rights advocacy - and that of her country, Sweden - but also highlight the importance of her courageous and straightforward approach to problem solving designed to meet her highest standards.”

The political science expert and author Samantha Power will be the first to hold the position, reported Svenska Dagbladet on Wednesday.

Power is already working at the university. She has written and debated the United States’ roll in the genocide in Rwanda. She is now writing a book about the United Nations and its reform work. She has been critical of the Bush administration’s view of the UN.
