In an email sent to several Swedish media outlets the extreme left wing grou Global Intifada claimed that it had placed a box with fire bombs outside FMV the night before.

The reason, said Global Intifada, was that FMV "actively buys weapons and military equipment from Israel".

After FMV was notified, the police were informed.

In a cardboard box outside the main entrance to the FMV building two bottles with a suspicious substance were found. FMV decided to evacuate the part of the building nearest the entrance.

Police cordoned off streets in Östermalm between Valhallavägen and Värtavägen. At 7pm the cordon was lifted.

"Bomb technicians have removed two bottles from a cardboard box," confirmed Kjell Lindgren at City police.

The suspicious bottles were taken to the police's disarming area in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm, where the contents will be analysed.

Kurt Svensson, director of information at FMV, said that the organisation had not received any threats before the objects were found.
