The Sahlgrenska Hospital said in a statement on that the man, who is around 45, was operated on during the night, and is in intensive care. He had been shot in both arms and the back.

Police spokesman Stefan Gustafsson would not comment on whether there were any suspects for the crime. Early on Sunday morning nobody had been arrested.

Around half an hour after the shooting, reports were received of further shots at a pizzeria on Vingagatan, near the scene of the first shooting. Nobody was injured.

According to Göteborgs Posten, the shootings are linked to rivalries between criminal gangs. The owner of the pizzeria is, according to the paper, a relative of the leader of another criminal gang.
